Meet Our Team
Matt Rushton
Over the years I have worked in various jobs, starting at 17 using the telephone to sell advertising space in emergency services diaries. I was then very fortunate to be given a job at a telephone fundraising company and it is here that my path first crossed with Pete.
For the last 18 years alongside Pete, I have headed up the running of a successful travel company. I am super excited about the creation of Elevate, as it enables the whole team to share the knowledge & skills that have been acquired through experience. My experience and skills centre around budgeting and planning, the team say ‘I love a spreadsheet!’ this is probably why I love being outdoors so much!!
Trying to help folk young or old to get outdoors, whether that be walking in the hills or along the coast, cycling, playing sport. I truly believe being outside regardless of the weather (as long as suitably clothed!) is so good for a person’s mental health. Seeing and experiencing different cultures opens your mind to different ways to live.
What is one item you’d be lost without?
My cap…I am ginger after all and the world is getting warmer!
Mountains or ocean?
So, so, so difficult, but via a toss of a coin…mountains! No, the ocean!!
What do you love about your job?
The people I work with, none of us take ourselves too seriously and the fact we all make a little difference for people less fortunate than ourselves.
Peter Robinson
I started my event journey way back in 2002, when I was the first employee of Global Adventure Challenges, and I’m still shocked to this day it’s been 22 years of doing what I love! Time certainly does fly!
Prior to this, I worked with Matt in professional telephone fundraising and that’s what sparked my desire to work in the charity sector; knowing that your work had purpose and benefit to those less fortunate. Elevate has been borne by 4 fantastic people with exceptional experience and I am thrilled we can share our enthusiasm and passion with a wider audience, bringing our skills from the corporate, public, school and third sectors to ‘pardon, cough’, elevate your event.
What cause are you passionate about?
Autism and SEN. My adorable son, Mason, has Autism and navigating the world and authorities regarding his needs, requires so much passion and more! Could spend hours chatting with SEN families who are trying to get the best educations for their children.
Early bird or night owl?
Night owl. The pubs, music, theatre and concerts are just so much better at night!
What was your dream job as a child?
An air force fighter pilot after watching Top Gun. It quickly changed to being a West End / Broadway Musical Theatre performer.
What is your favourite travel destination?
I’ve been to many many countries with my job which has been the most amazing experience, which I am incredibly grateful for. I think it has to be Spain; their thinking towards LGBT rights is admirable and just fantastic.
Craig Wilson
Over the last 20 years my career has been centred around outdoor education provision and outdoor events. I have always wanted to work in the outdoors and so as a fresh faced 18 year old I began working as an apprentice outdoor instructor.
Since then, I have been fortunate to work all over the UK in a variety of roles before finally settling in North Wales and working in Operations Management, Training & Development and Event Management. Over this time I have become an accomplished health and safety expert for a wide range of events and activities and have produced event safety plans to satisfy some of the most rigorous local authority risk advisory groups and worked with some of the best health and safety teams in the corporate sector. I am really pleased to be part of the Elevate team and be able to share our skills, passion and experience to help other organisations operate successful events.
What is a cause you’re passionate about?
Working with young people to develop skills that allow them to be successful entering adulthood whether that be through football coaching, outdoor education or any other organised activity.
What is your favourite travel destination?
Overseas – Cambodia
UK – Anglesey
If you had to go on a reality TV show, which would you pick?
Channel 4’s Hunted
What do you love about your job?
I love being involved in creating and supporting the delivery of life changing experiences for people and seeing first hand or hearing about what has been gained from the experience because it is hugely rewarding.
Georgina Lacey
I started working in marketing over a decade ago, first in further education focussing on social media and event planning, then later moving into the charity challenge sector where I now specialise in digital marketing.
My undergraduate degree is actually in motorsport engineering, but thankfully during my final year I developed a passion for marketing! I followed that up with a postgraduate degree in marketing and PR with a specialism in charity communications, and that’s definitely an area of interest that has stayed with me throughout my career. It’s really important to me that my work has a purpose and a postive impact, so I’m really pleased to be part of the Elevate team and put my skills and experience to good use!
What was your dream job as a child?
When I was young I wanted to be a storm chaser! I absolutely loved watching thunder and lightning. When I got older I wanted to be a race engineer, but unfortunately I discovered during uni that engineering is not my strength!
Early bird or night owl?
Early bird, definitely! Whatever the weather, I’m up at the crack of dawn to walk my border collie (he’s a very reliable alarm clock), so early nights are a must.
Mountains or ocean?
The ocean, 100%. I love being in the mountains, but whenever I’m near the sea I can feel my energy meter refilling – maybe it’s because I’m a pisces!
What do you love about your job?
I love that there’s always something new to learn. In digital marketing there’s always a new tool to try, or a new algorithm to consider so it definitely keeps me on my toes!
